The Farm

The Farm has been in the Ferris family since about 1830.  Over the last several generations, family members have moved away, traveled the world, and found other livelihoods.  But many of us keep coming back, some just for the summer or for a hiatus, and others to stay.  The farm consists of over 200 acres of tillable land and pasture, and several hundred acres of woodlands.

All of the tillable land on the farm is certified organic by NOFA-NY and rented to a neighboring organic dairy farmer.  Much of the wooded land is committed to long-term management for sustainable timber production under New York State's 480-a program.  About 20 acres of pasture are intensively grazed for lamb production.
